Cal State Fullerton Now Among Top ‘National Universities’

U.S. News & World Report, lists Cal State Fullerton as a top “national university” in rakings released today. This change was based largely on the university’s recent elevation to an “R-3” (research) status by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education, in recognition of Cal State Fullerton’s evolution from a master’s-level comprehensive institution to one that awards doctorates.

Purdue University Reports Main Campus Enrollment Record

Purdue University says it has set an enrollment record with more than 40,000 students at its main campus in West Lafayette. Purdue officials say 40,451 students arrived on campus, up 1,042 from last year. The school says this year's freshman class is larger than projected because more students took up Purdue's acceptance offers than anticipated.

Indiana University Research and Technology Corp. issued record 53 U.S. patents in 2015-16

The United States Patent and Trademark Office issued a record 53 patents in the 2015-16 fiscal year to the Indiana University Research and Technology Corp., which protects, markets and licenses intellectual property developed at Indiana University so it can be commercialized by industry. The 53 issued U.S. patents in 2015-16 represent a 29 percent increase over the previous year's 41.

UConn Plans New Graduate Program in Genetic Counseling

The University of Connecticut is planning a new graduate program designed to prepare students to become genetic counselors who interpret the results of a genetic test and advise patients about potential health risks and ways to mitigate those risks.The program is being funded by a grant of more than $300,000 from the University.
