Health Care August 2016 University of Arizona Gets Funds for Asthma Research A renowned scientist at the University of Arizona has been awarded $7 million from the National Institutes of Health to boost research related to asthma. As part of the five-year grant, Monica Kraft and her colleagues will be working to better understand complex genetic interactions with the hope of reducing lung inflammation and attacks in asthma patients.

Hispanic Community August 2016 Richland College graduate wins award for entrepreneurship For Richland College graduate Valery Perez, starting a business at age 14 was only the beginning of what she hopes will be a challenging but rewarding life as an entrepreneur. Perez, who is now 21, graduated from Richland in May. She is the CEO of Rosealloon, which makes and sells balloons that are stuffed with personalized gifts such as flowers, teddy bears or even engagement rings.

Arts and Media August 2016 CU Boulder offers graduate certificate in Applied Shakespeare Beginning in spring 2017, CU Boulder becomes the first university in the nation to offer a graduate certificate in Applied Shakespeare. The hybrid online and immersive nine-credit course will take place in the classroom, on the stage and online. Students will engage in stage combat, script reading and Elizabethan history.
