HCCC Selected For NJ Tuition-Free Pilot Program

Hudson County Community College has recently been named as one of 13 community colleges in New Jersey to pilot the New Jersey Community College Opportunity Grant (CCOG) program. The CCOG program will allow the school to offer both new and current students from low-income families to attend community college tuition free.

Ford Donates Ford Focus To SUNY Canton’s Automotive Program

The Ford Motor Company has made a donation to SUNY Canton’s automotive program. A late-model Ford Focus is being given exclusively for students to perfect their mechanical skills in order to prepare them for their future careers. The Focus now resides in the college’s Auto Lab where students will now gain hands-on access to the latest advancements made in motor vehicles.

Brett Kavanaugh Will Not Return To Teach At Harvard Law

Administrators at Harvard announced by email that Judge Brett Kavanaugh will not be returning to teach at Harvard Law School in January. Kavanaugh was scheduled to teach a course entitled The Supreme Court Since 2005, which is a three-week course that he has taught at Harvard Law School for about a decade.

BFIT And Prime Motor Group Announce Prime Scholars Program

Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology and Prime Motor Group have established the Prime Scholars program. As many as 15 students will work directly with the company part-time as they pursue their degrees, receive $5,000 scholarships from Prime Motor Group, and develop the skills necessary to secure jobs with Prime Motor Group upon graduation.

Tulane U School of Medicine Awarded $2.8M Grant

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has awarded Tulane University a new $2.8 million grant. The grant will allow investigators Dr. Jiang He from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, and Drs. Jing Chen and Lee Hamm of Tulane University School of Medicine to continue their groundbreaking research on chronic kidney disease.

Poll: Young Americans Say Online Bullying A Serious Problem

A new poll shows that young adults and teens say cyberbullying is a serious problem, however, at the same time, they do not think they will be the ones targeted for digital abuse. The poll, which is from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research and MTV, found parents and young people see social as having for the most part a negative effect on the younger generation.

Texas Tech University has launched an online doctoral program in education policy. This is Texas Tech’s first fully online doctoral program and among a select few in the nation. The university is taking advantage of the latest digital technology to advance educational policy making into a doctoral program available to all students from all around the world.

UVM Students Protest Kavanaugh Nomination

Students and faculty from the University of Vermont are demonstrating against Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court. The students held a walk-out on Thursday, and abortion is a key issue with Kavanaugh seen as the deciding vote regarding the future of access to abortion.

Feed The Children Provides Free Classroom Supplies For Educators

Feed the Children’s five Teacher Store locations are providing free classroom supplies to teachers, including copy paper, pencils, glue, pens, notebooks and instructional materials. The nonprofit is supporting teachers in an effort to combat poverty by supporting education.

Kansas State Ending Merit-Based Putnam Scholarships

Kansas State University is no longer offering the $9,000 per year Putnam Scholarship to students. A student could have the Putnam Scholarship for four years. The move is because Kansas State is shifting from totally merit-based scholarships to need plus merit-based ones.
