Higher Education Institution Department Chair Gets $3.7M Military Grant to Develop Computer Tech

A Tulane University professor is getting a $3.7 million, three-year military grant to help develop computing technology. The university announced Tuesday that professor Michael Mislove, chair of Tulane's computer science department, received the grant from the U.S. Air Force Office of Scientific Research. The research grant is aimed at creating new technology related to quantum computing, specifically targeting the development of programming languages for quantum computers.

Higher Education Institution Launches 18-Month Part-time Online MBA Program, One of the Fastest in Greater Boston

Bentley University has launched a part-time accelerated online MBA program that allows students to earn their degree in as little as 18 months, one of the fastest part-time MBA degrees in Greater Boston. Bentley's new accelerated part-time MBA offers an adaptable class schedule, with all courses available online, and includes the option of intensive courses on weekends. Classes meet once a week and students can pursue a concentration in leadership designed to prepare them for high-level management roles. FCC Votes Along Party Lines to End 'Net Neutrality'--Beyond Education

The Federal Communications Commission repealed the Obama-era "net neutrality" rules Thursday, giving internet service providers like Verizon, Comcast and AT&T a free hand to slow or block websites and apps as they see fit or charge more for faster speeds. In a straight party-line vote of 3-2, the Republican-controlled FCC junked the longtime principle that said all web traffic must be treated equally.

The Federal Communications Commission has voted on party lines to undo sweeping Obama-era "net neutrality" rules that guaranteed equal access to internet. The agency's Democratic commissioners dissented in the 3-2 vote Thursday. The FCC's new rules could usher in big changes in how Americans use the internet. The agency got rid of rules that barred companies like Comcast, AT&T and Verizon from playing favorites with internet apps and sites.
