Stephanie Huerta Alvarez

Stephanie Huerta Alvarez grew up in the small, rural farm town of Caruthers, California, in Fresno County within the San Joaquin Valley. She is an alumnus of the first UCSF Fresno Doctors Academy cohort at Caruthers High School. In 2016, she joined UCSF Fresno to support pathway development and now oversees the regional campus initiatives as the Manager and Principal Investigator for the Office of Health Career Pathways at UCSF Fresno. As a first-generation student and teen parent, she graduated from the UC Santa Cruz with a BS in Human Biology and  a minor in Latin American and Latino Studies, and became the first in her family to complete a graduate degree from UC Berkeley with a Master of Public Health (MPH). Stephanie’s personal and professional work experiences have shaped her efforts to identify and bridge the gaps in the K-16 health career pathway for future health professionals and increase educational attainment in rural and urban communities in the San Joaquin Valley.
