Hispanic Community October 2024 Riverland Community College: A Beacon of Opportunity and Growth in Southeastern Minnesota Riverland Community College, founded in 1996, plays a vital role in southeastern Minnesota’s workforce development and education. Technology November 2018 Amazon's New Goal: Teach 10 Million Kids A Year To Code Amazon is launching a new program with the goal to teach more than 10 million students a year about coding in the hopes of encouraging more Hispanic, black and female students to study computer science. Amazon has said it will pay for initiatives including teacher training and summer camps.
Legal November 2018 Pittsburgh Synagogue Suspect Pleads Not Guilty Robert Bowers, the suspect in the synagogue shooting where 11 people were killed, has pled not guilty to federal charges which could lead to the death penalty. This comes one day after a 44-count indictment was issued by a grand jury. Counts include hate crimes, murder and obstructing the practice of religion.

Global November 2018 Trump Says Border Troops Could Hit 15K, Surprising Pentagon The number of U.S. military troops sent to the United States’ southern border could be as high as 15,000, according to President Donald Trump. This surprised Pentagon officials who said that "more than 7,000" troops were being sent to the border to support Customs and Border Protection agents, but that under current plans that number could reach a maximum of 8,000.
Global October 2018 WPU Hosting Gun Safety Panel WPU is a hosting a gun safety panel. Featured panelists include two students Taylor Morales and Macey Wonacott who lived through the shooting at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School, Tom Campbell, Director of the Newtown Foundation and The Newtown Action Alliance; Brett Sabo, the New Jersey State Chapter Leader of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America; and Lieutenant George Guzman, of the Haledon Police Department.
Financing October 2018 U Of New Hampshire Creates 4-H Scholarships Starting in the fall of 2019, students at the University of New Hampshire will receive $500 scholarships for each year of active participation in 4-H programs. Under this new scholarship program students can earn a maximum annual scholarship of $5,000.
