Supreme Court Declines To Decide Fate Of 'Dreamers' Just Yet [Beyond Education]

The Supreme Court on Monday rejected the Trump administration's highly unusual bid to bypass a federals appeals court and get the justices to intervene in the fate of a program that protects hundreds of thousands of young immigrants from deportation. The decision affecting "Dreamers" means the case will almost certainly have to work its way through the lower courts before any Supreme Court ruling is possible.

Fewer California Immigrant Students Seek College Assistance [Education News]

There's been a significant drop in applications for college financial aid by California students who are in the country illegally after being brought to the U.S. as young children. The Los Angeles Times reports that as of Monday 19,141 students had applied for aid under the California Dream Act, and the deadline is March 1. The number is just over half of last year's total.

The White House's Promised Spanish Website? Nada De Nada [Beyond Education]

The White House website still has no Spanish-language content, unlike during the two previous administrations and even though nearly 1 in 5 people in the United States speaks Spanish. In July, the White House director of media affairs, Helen Aguirre Ferre, said she expected a Spanish website to launch at the end of 2017. Now, she declines to say whether there are still plans to have a Spanish-language website.
