Financing July 2018 South Carolina Lottery Earns $435 Million For Education Including Scholarships The South Carolina lottery generated a record $435 million for education for the fiscal year that ended June 30. Most of the money raised by the lottery goes for merit-based, college scholarships. Some of the money also goes for K-12 education and to buy school buses and pay for other education programs.
Hispanic Community July 2018 Judge Temporarily Halts Deportation Of Reunified Families [Beyond Education] A federal judge on Monday ordered a temporary halt to any deportations of reunited families who were separated by the Trump administration after crossing the southwest border. The American Civil Liberties Union had asked Judge Dana Sabraw to delay deportations a week after reunification.
Global July 2018 University Alumna Creates Innovative Keyboarding Game For Elementary Students [Education News] Slippery Rock University alumna and author Bobbi Jo Callis has created a typing game to help elementary students familiarize themselves with not only typing but also helps them learn valuable lessons. Callis has written a new book “Keyboard Kritters” designed to help kids type while teaching a positive lesson about acceptance before bad typing habits develop in later years.

But a majority of the economists surveyed by the National Association for Business Economics say the corporate tax cuts that the Trump administration pushed through Congress have yet to affect their plans for hiring or investment.
Hispanic Community July 2018 NY Sends 3rd Set Of Volunteers To Aid Puerto Rico Rebuilding [On A Positive Note In Education] A third set of 100 New York college students and construction workers is headed to Puerto Rico to help rebuilding after Hurricane Maria's heavy blow to the island last year. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the volunteer deployment Sunday. It's the third since the start of June.
