According to the school’s website, “The Hunter College Career Fair provides students and employers an opportunity to connect in person for internship and employment opportunities. Over 80 employers recruit at Hunter College for the diversity of majors and the reputation of the institution as a leader in public higher education.”

Claiming he's accomplished a "heckuva lot," House Speaker Paul Ryan announced Wednesday he will not run for re-election and will retire next year, injecting another layer of uncertainty as Republicans face worries over losing their majority in the fall. The Wisconsin Republican cast the decision to end his 20-year career as a personal one, saying he did not want his children growing up with a "weekend dad."

US Hiring Slows In March, But Job Market Still Looks Healthy [Beyond Education]

U.S. employers added a modest 103,000 jobs in March after several months of robust gains, though the government's overall jobs report Friday suggested that the labor market remains fundamentally healthy. The unemployment rate remained at 4.1 percent, a 17-year low, for a sixth straight month, the government said. Average hourly pay ticked up, climbing 2.7 percent compared with a year earlier.

Small Private Colleges Attracting Fewer Students [Education News]

Small, liberal arts college administrators are growing increasingly concerned as their enrollment numbers fall. The Boston Globe reports undergraduate enrollment trends at 118 four-year private colleges in the region show one out of five of those colleges have had an enrollment drop of at least 10 percent. Newbury College in Brookline is facing the most severe drop, with its enrollment declining 86 percent over 20 years.

Dems Fear Immigrants Will Skip Census With Citizenship Query [Beyond Education]

The Trump administration's decision to ask people about their citizenship in the 2020 census set off worries among Democrats that immigrants will dodge the survey altogether, diluting political representation for states that tend to vote Democratic and robbing many communities of federal dollars. Not since 1950 has the census collected citizenship data from the whole population, rather than just a population sample, says the Congressional Research Service.
